Grandad

There was a wish in my heart
Once, when I was a child
I was begging for your return
But you never came back
You left me all alone
And all my world turned to black.
God is now your owner
But you still own my soul
The man who changed me
Who turned me into what I am today
Even though the sky is your place
And I’ll never accept it
I’ll do everything down here
To make you proud.
I can’t bring you back
And I know it
So that I wish every day
I can be as glorious as you
Maybe then, God will let me be
Your soul owner, again, throughout eternity.
